NZUAG News edition 17: May 2019

The NZUAG Board is calling for nominations from members to be part of a working group that will assess how effective the Code has been and to recommend any necessary changes.

The Code (of Practice for Utility Operators’ Access to Transport Corridors) has been in place since 2012 and has been reviewed twice in that time. The Board is keen to find out how effective it has been for the parties to the Code and the wider community, and whether the purpose and principles of the Code are being met. Details of the working group appear below. This is an important initiative from the Board, and we are keen to have as many nominations as possible. Your industry needs you!

NZUAG News edition 16: March 2019

Hi everyone,

The year is racing along. Someone said to me the other day that it won’t be and long before we hear Christmas carols in the stores again!!

The Board met recently to sign off on the revised Code prior to submission to the Minister for Infrastructure for approval. A 2019/20 work programme was adopted, which includes focusing on Code promotion and compliance. Preparations are well underway for the RIMS conference in Dunedin in March, where we will update participants on current issues and the year ahead.

Tracy Bell (Timaru District Council) representing Local Government NZ, was welcomed to the Board. Tracy joins Ria Apiata (KiwiRail) representing the National Rail Corridor and Brendan Drysdale (Wellington Electricity) representing the Electricity Sector who both came onto the Board following the November AGM as new sector representatives.

NZUAG News Issue 14: August 2018

It’s been busy couple of months for the NZUAG Board and members. We ran a series of successful seminars on the Code and the review in 5 centres throughout New Zealand as well as three webinars using Zoom technology. The feedback was positive, and highlights the importance of promoting the Code throughout industry.

At the same time, the first round of Code review submissions has been analysed, and a revised draft Code is on the website. Submissions on the draft have now closed, and the Board is currently considering those before the Board meeting in November. Continue reading “NZUAG News Issue 14: August 2018”

November 2017 – NZUAG News issue 11

From the Chair

At the recent NZUAG AGM, I noted that the Board had been active on behalf of members during the 2016/17 year, focusing on two key areas: Code education and Code compliance.  We farewelled some long standing Board members, including Peter Gilbert as Gas Sector representative and Chair of the Finance Committee, and welcomed new ones.  We maintained regular contact with the sector through our quarterly newsletter, and once again our finances were managed well.  We are now in a very strong position to conduct the major Code review next year, and we Continue reading “November 2017 – NZUAG News issue 11”

August 2017 – NZUAG News issue 10

From the Chair

We are now gearing up for the next Code review that will be kicked off in March next year.  The Board is now working on the detailed planning, including a launch at the 2018 RIMS Conference and a series of information seminars.  We will be calling for suggested changes to the Code early next year so please start thinking about any areas that may need to be amended.

The Board is also required under the Code to collect information such as the number of CARs requested and the number of 3rd party strikes on utility assets over the last year.  Collated results will be reported to industry and Continue reading “August 2017 – NZUAG News issue 10”

The recent Board meeting focused on two key issues: the next Code review and the monitoring of performance of the National Code of Practice.
